Stay Calm and Find a Safe Location to Stop
When you realise you have a flat tyre (most likely you will hear and feel a thump and vibration followed by a flapping sound) the first and most crucial step is to remain calm and find a safe spot to pull over. Gradually slow your car down, and look for a level surface away from traffic, preferably a car park or a wide shoulder. This will help to keep you out of harm’s way while you work on the repair.
Turn On Your Hazard Lights and Apply the Parking Brake

Jack Up Your Vehicle

Remove the Flat Tyre
Using the lug wrench, carefully loosen the lug nuts by turning them anti-clockwise. This may require some force! Once they are loose, continue to unscrew them by hand. With the lug nuts removed, gently pull the flat tyre towards you, keeping it upright to avoid damage or injury. When you have removed the tyre, make sure you lay it flat to stop it rolling away.
Install the Spare
Align the spare tyre with the wheel bolts and carefully slide it onto the wheel hub. Once the spare tyre is in place, hand-tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern. This ensures even pressure distribution and helps prevent the wheel from tilting.
Lower the Vehicle and Tighten the Lug Nuts
Using the jack, lower the vehicle until the spare tyre touches the ground. Now, using the wrench, tighten the nuts as much as possible, still following the star pattern. Be cautious not to over-tighten, as it may damage the wheel studs.
